What are some inspirational quotes and sayings?

.I have decided to write a novel based on a quote or saying. I'm twelve years old, so appropriate ones are very much needed. The sayings can be from anyone, yourself, a famous person, or a book. Thanks very much to everyone who helps out!!

  1. "when the world says "give up", hope whispers, "try it one more time." "forget the risk take the fall if its meant to be its worth it all!" "everyone thinks of changing the world. but no one thinks of changing themselves." not sure who said them.
  2. Some of favorite quotes by Kahlil Gibran. “I have learnt silence from the talkative, toleration from the intolerant, and kindness from the unkind; yet strange, I am ungrateful to these teachers. ” When you have solved all the mysteries of life you long for death, for it is but another mystery of life.” “Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.” “It is well to give when asked, but it is better to give unasked, through understanding.” “If you cannot work with love but only with distaste, it is better that you should leave your work. ” “Yesterday is but today’s memory, tomorrow is today’s dream.” “Knowledge cultivates your seeds and does not sow in you seeds.” “Generosity is giving more than you can, and pride is taking less than you need” “Trees are poems that earth writes upon the sky. We fell them down and turn them into paper, that we may record our emptiness.”
  3. if you go onto a search engine (google, yahoo, etc.) and look up 'quotes', there are many sites where quotes are separated by person and subject and you can find quotes from people you have some connection with, or about a subject you care about. That will be a lot easier then writing about a quote that somebody else likes.
  4. "Keep a green tree in your heart and perhaps a singing bird will come" -Chinese Proverb
  5. "when things go wrong dont go wrong with them" "an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind" "things do not change people change" "the things you own end up owning you" cant pinpoint who said them, these i always have on the tip of my tongue.
  6. I came up with this one years ago... "Worry about it when it's too late, until then you still have options."- Klim Skelton Another favorite I heard on a cartoon years ago I think was called The Weekenders, "Two wrongs don't make a right, one wrong doesn't make a right either. But at least two wrongs makes you feel better."
  7. Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you're right. Henry Ford You see things; and you say 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say 'Why not?' George Bernard Shaw Within each of us lies the power of our consent to health and sickness, to riches and poverty, to freedom and to slavery. It is we who control these, and not another. Richard Bach (Illusions) Never look down on anybody unless you're helping him up. Jesse Jackson To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment. Ralph Waldo Emerson A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song. Maya Angelou There is no use trying, said Alice; one can't believe impossible things. I dare say you haven't had much practice, said the Queen. When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast. Lewis Carroll The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man. George Bernard Shaw The journey is the reward. Chinese Proverb People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within. Elizabeth Kubler Ross

I love you For the part of me That you bring out; I love you For putting your hand Into my heaped-up heart And passing over All the foolish, weak things That you can’t help Dimly seeing there, And for drawing out Into the light All the beautiful belongings That no one else had looked Quite far enough to find. I love you because you Are helping me to make Of the lumber of my life Not a tavern But a temple; Out of the works Of my every day Not a reproach But a song. I love you Because you have done More than any creed Could have done To make me good And more than any fate Could have done To make me happy.
